League 1 preview

League 1 is back this weekend after another week off, this time for The Challenge Cup Final day out at Wembley. Unfortunately for me there's no Newcastle Thunder this weekend but I thought I'd still give a quick run down of the rest of the league.

Dewsbury Rams v Goole Vikings

Friday night lights kick start the weekend at Dewsbury with the home team looking to build on an impressive away victory at Workington last time out. Goole continue to be on the road while works at their Victoria Pleasure Grounds are completed. They'll be encouraged by their debut season in League 1 and will look to take a scalp at Dewsbury. But I fancy Dewsbury to stay in the top four by the end of the weekend and take a win here.

Swinton v Workington

This one will be a cracket on Sunday afternoon and prior to the season I'd have fancied Swinton to take a win, they may well edge it at home. This Workington outfit will be disappointed to lose at home last time out and will look to their power game to try and take a victory back to Cumbria. It'll be a battle but I fancy Swinton at home to just have advantage but this will be close.

North Wales v Midlands

First play second in the game of the day in League 1 in North Wales. North Wales blew Rochdale away in the first half last time out but will need an eighty minute performance as Midlands will make it very tough for them. Midlands themselves won at home to Swinton last time out, this will be entertaining with the two teams going at it. North Wales will edge this with home advantage but it will be a cracker.

Keighley v Rochdale

Sunday afternoon finishes with Keighley hosting Rochdale at Cougar Park. This will be another quality game despite Keighley sitting well below Rochdale in the table. There's a fair bit of history between these two clubs and it will be tense on Sunday afternoon. Keighley were impressive at Newcastle last time out and we saw what they are capable of, the challenge is backing that performance up. Rochdale on the other hand were disappointing especially in the first half against North Wales. Keighley are going to have a say on who makes the top four and this is their first chance to have a say in that. This game will be closer than league positions show. If Keighley turn up with the right attitude then I fancy them to put one over Rochdale on Sunday afternoon. If they don't and they get rattled then Rochdale will take a victory. That's me sitting on the fence for this one!
